Schwarze Bildschirme bei Dual-Monitor-Setup (Nvidia)

Hi.

Ich habe ein Dual-Monitor-Setup, bestehend aus einem Hauptmonitor (21:9, angeschlossen per DisplayPort) und einem 16:9-Monitor im Hochformat (HDMI). Auf dem System gerade ein frisches Stretch aufgesetzt. Zweimal.

Erste Installation lief an sich reibungslos. 16:9-Monitor wurde (entgegen meiner Absicht) als primäres Display erkannt, aber daran läßt sich meines Wissens nichts ändern, weil für die Graphikkarte immer DVI > HDMI > DisplayPort zu gelten scheint. Direkt auf Probleme mit Nouveau gestoßen (maximale Auflösung 1024 x 768 usw.), deshalb den historisch streßärmeren proprietären Nvidia-Treiber aus den Sources nachinstalliert (Graphikkarte unterstützt, vorher mit nvidia-detect überprüft). Nach einem Reboot: beide Schirme schwarz. STRG+ALT+F1 gab mir weiterhin ein Terminal, ich fand aber keine Angaben in der xorg.conf o. ä., die mir irgendwie verdächtig schienen.

Also, nach einigem erfolglosen Hin und Her HDMI-Monitor abgeklemmt und erneute Installation gestartet. Installation lief wieder reibungslos, Nvidia-Treiber nachinstalliert, minimale Config in /etc/X11/xorg.conf.d/20-nvidia.conf hinterlegt (https://wiki.debian.org/NvidiaGraphicsDrivers#Manual), Neustart, KDE läuft rund in der nativen Auflösung und Refresh Rate des Monitors. Also im laufenden System den zweiten Monitor wieder angestöpselt. Auch direkt erkannt, per nvidia-settings schnell das primäre Display festgelegt und Monitor 2 ins Hochformat gestellt, sonst nichts. Neustart, und ... beide Schirme schwarz. Kann per STRG+ALT+F* immer noch auf ein Terminal wechseln, bekomme aber kein graphisches Login. Wenn ich den zweiten Schirm wieder abklemme, gibt es keine Probleme (Edit: abklemmen und rebooten, sollte ich klarstellen), kann den dann auch im laufenden Betrieb wieder einstecken und konfigurieren. Das bei jedem Reboot zu tun, ist natürlich nicht gerade die eleganteste Lösung ...

tl/dr: System läuft mit den proprietären Nvidia-Treibern einwandfrei, solange der zweite Schirm nicht angeschlossen ist. Ist er angeschlossen, sind und bleiben beide Schirme schwarz. Das Problem tritt annähernd identisch auch mit Nouveau auf. Ich würde gerne weitere hilfreiche Informationen mitliefern, weiß aber ehrlich gesagt nicht, wo ich gucken sollte. xrandr gibt von einem Terminal das zu erwartende "Can't open display" o. ä. aus.
