Wie Ximian Gnome loswerden?
Hallo,
ich betreibe meinen Rechner zur Zeit mit einer Potato/Woody-Mischinstallation. Als Window-Manager läuft bei mir Ximian Gnome. Dies würde ich gerne mit dem Woody-Gnome ersetzen, um so ein sauberes System zu bekommen. Wie stell ich das am besten an? Soll ich händisch alle Ximian-Pakete löschen oder kann ich ein dist-upgrade auf Woody und damit auf Woody´s Gnome wagen? Wer hat damit schon (hoffentlich positive) Erfahrungen gemacht?

Das sind alle jene, die Du loswerden willst.
Davon braucht man nur die erste Spalte: »COL....mian | cut -d" " -f3«
Nun löscht man sie: »dpkg --purge `COL....-f3`«.
Leider schlägt das fehl, weil noch andere nicht-Ximian-Programme abhängig sind von den Ximian-Paketen.
Naja. Abhilfe schaft man sich mit --ignore-depends.
Und dann haut man alles wieder mt apt-get drauf. Diesmal aus Woody oder Sid.
Weil das aber alles so scheisse ist, habe ich das letzte Mal einfach Debian neu installiert. Und kann das nur weiter empfehlen.
ximian ist lahm wie die sau
also ich finde ximian gnome a) übelst lahm, b) übelst instabil und c) hat es blöde abhänigkeiten und beißt sich mit woody. Es sieht vielleicht ein wenig schöner aus, aber zu welchem Preis?

Wußte gar nicht, dass Ximian auch an gimp "rumpfuscht" :)
Auf der anderen Seite fehlt mir evolution.
