Ich gleiche gerade verschiedene Notizen, die ich mir zu Linux gemacht habe ab. In einer älteren Mitschrift finde ich folgendes Beispiel:

mke2fs –t ext4 –j –v /dev/sdb1
Hat die Option "-j" in diesem Fall überhaupt eine Wirkung oder einen Nutzen? ext4 führt ein ja per se ein Journal.

Im Manual heißt es:
MKE2FS(8) System Manager's Manual MKE2FS(8)

NAME
mke2fs - create an ext2/ext3/ext4 filesystem

[...]

-j Create the filesystem with an ext3 journal. If the -J option is not specified, the default jour‐
nal parameters will be used to create an appropriately sized journal (given the size of the
filesystem) stored within the filesystem. Note that you must be using a kernel which has ext3
support in order to actually make use of the journal.
